Water Rescue

9:00AM - 1:00PM
Ronda Yadkin River Access:
Clingman Rd, Ronda
Come enjoy a classic paddle in the Elkin area, all the while gaining experience in a water rescue class led by our local EMS. The event will begin at Ronda park at 9:00 am. After waiver forms and minor instructions are handled we will start our float. Bring appropriate food, drinks (of the non alcoholic sort), sunscreen, clothing to ensure a comfortable experience. Within our float we will reach a specific sand bar at which point we will get out and begin the hands-on portion of the water rescue class. EMS will teach how to properly use throw bags and what scenarios call for them. We will also work on rollovers and buddy rescue. It is important that you register responsible as some positions will be mildly strenuous. After an hour of instruction and practice we will enjoy the remainder of our beautiful float. The fun will come to an end around 1:00 pm where we will shuttle back to our vehicles. We are not providing life jackets nor kayaks so prepare accordingly. Registration required.
